The emergency medicines are:
• Epinephrine (adrenaline) auto-injector
• Glucagon hydrochloride injection
• Glyceryl trinitrate sublingual spray
• Naloxone hydrochloride pre-filled syringe
• Salbutamol 100mcg multi-dose inhaler
• Medical gas mixture of 50% nitrous oxide and 50% oxygen
(Note: the administration of this is restricted to those engaged or employed by an emergency rescue organisation*)
7-Hour Course, Maximum of 8 Learners
2-Year Certification of Competence, Recognised by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council, Following Successful Assessments.
The Cardiac First Response (Glyceryl Trinitrate) course is aimed at members of the public as well as health care professionals. The course meets all the requirements the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council sets.
On completion of the Cardiac First Response (Glyceryl Trinitrate) course participants will be able to:
Recognise the signs of a life-threatening emergency
Respond in an effective, safe and appropriate manner to a life-threatening emergency, utilising basic life support skills
Retrieve and use, if required, an AED during a cardiac arrest
Report and record actions appropriately and handover to emergency medical services
React to a person with severe angina
The course includes:
Cardiac Emergencies.
Aspirin Administration.
Defibrillator (AED).
Respiration & Airway obstruction.
Infant / Child / Adult C.P.R.
Angina recognition
Safe Drug Administration
Glyceryl Trinitrate Administration
Duration: 7hrs
